District 9
Not to knock District 9, but both before and after District 9 were better than District 9. But District 9 was okay for a silly alien flick. I guess. Although I think I slept through most of District 9.
It's 4 months til Christmas, god help us.

You're the devil in me
We're going to see District 9 tonight, which I know nothing about, except that there's something about aliens (or Mary) involved in it. I'll do it because Miklos's sister is a peach and we have movie passes because of her.
Went for sushi with Heather today for the first time in a while. It was refreshing, although we didn't get to go to Sushi Jade because it's now something of a condemned building instead of a restaurant. Which I kind of expected, after the last time I went there and the whole half-frozen food thing happened. At any rate, they've moved to the Falls to try their sketchiness on for size with new scenery.
I found a second job, but I don't know if I'll keep it. If nothing else, it fills the holes in my day that my actual job doesn't.

Git in, ya dumb bastids!
I've just seen a Johnny Depp movie that I didn't particularly like. It's a sad day in the world of me; except for all the other happy things that have happened, I mean. Which is pretty much everything else.
Earlier today, I was about to text a girl I know when the phone started ringing. Answered, and no one was there. Went to text that same person again, and the phone rang once more. Answered, and this time it was someone apologizing for hanging up on me, and asking if I would be comfortable with an impromptu phone interview. I accepted, and I've since decided that as in non-interview-related things, I do way better flying by the seat of my pants than when I have to plan things. This is why I never make plans, people. 90% of the time if I plan something, it doesn't happen, or it doesn't happen right.
Anyway, I'm in a good mood tonight. Even Johnny's bad movie didn't steer me wrong. For whatever reason.

Whaat? Noo.
What's that? It's a beautiful day?? No need to look at the schedule then, I must be working!
Apparently it's going to be thundershowers tonight. Yesterday's storm was frightening in its brevity. I don't like when people overuse serious terms like 'torrential downpour', but it really was Niagara's version of such a thing. For example, my tires were actually underwater up to the hubcaps as the car parked on the street, which was ridiculously flooded. Powerlines kept touching, making that cool electronic machine noise you always hear in moments of sure doom in action movies. The wind was intense and sucked the curtains into the screen. Lightning and thunder weren't too impressive, but they were there. I've missed this.
Watched The Happening last night in our boredom, and the first fifteen seconds of the clip below is the best part of the whole movie: (Ignore the idiotic slowdown and speed up... although it does maybe have its charm.)

Played.
Quebec, at least the part of it I've been to as of this weekend, is beautifully scenic. Not horribly scenic by any means.
I officially have a 'Hang in There' kitty on my wall in calendar form this month. This can only mean good things. Or at least that I'll try to maintain some sanity.
Rare is the day that I'm not out in the evening, and as such, I barely get to watch Jeopardy anymore. Miklos is hard, hard, hard at work, so I think tonight's my night. Trebek, you and me. Let's get it on... the TV, that is.
Had a nice healthy rant about life just now. Which is the reason I think I didn't actually die in my car encounter earlier today during the rain. I nearly hydroplaned out of control and my steering wheel started shaking like a bastard. No impact, thankfully, and probably, as I say, because I hadn't yet had a final wah-wah today.
PS, go see UP! It's amazing.

Plans and Sleep
You ever look at a play-on-words so many times that the real word looks downright out of place the next time you see it? (Probably not.) Tonight, reading Vonnegut's introduction to Bagombo Snuff Box, I came across the word "comatose". Just looks weird to me now.
The drive-in is fun. It is one of few situations where a station wagon dominates a much sexier car. Any car you can lie down in the back of on a pile of blankets and pillows to watch three movies with the hatch left up (provided there is perfect weather, as there was last night) gets my vote. The drive-in does have its many limitations, but it is nearly always a very good time, except if you have to go to the bathroom.
Missed a day of fun today because the movies ran very late and I was tired and out of my head and remain so to this moment. Not tired enough to sleep, however, as I napped for a good length of time today.
Go read a book. There's nothing productive here.

Fun Fact: I could write cover letters in my sleep by now.
Last night, instead of pornography, Showcase had the movie SAW on. You know the one I'm talking about? Well, my sister who smokes pot liked it, so I didn't think I would. But then my other sister who doesn't smoke pot told me the whole series was pretty good for that kind of movie, so I decided to watch it. And damned if I didn't think it was pretty all right. So all right, in fact, that I dreamed of it all night long and kept waking up thinking the jacket and hat hanging on my bedroom door was a person. (That's about four nights in a row I've barely slept now.)
I'll have to watch the others soon, although I hear the second one sucks. The fourth one has someone I know being murdered briefly in it, so at least that's kind of exciting.

"TRAB PU KCIP! TRAB PU KCIP!"
"'Pick a bar'?? What the hell does that mean?"
I'm On My Way!
In terms of eating somewhat healthily, that is!
And if eating more than one meal a day (that isn't from McDonalds) is any indication of that, then yes sirs and madams, I am there.
Let's face it. I'll never ease off the caffeine addiction, but I don't have it much on weekends (weekends are for mixed drinks and salty snacks!) and I have coaxed myself into believing that Tetley Decaffeinated Earl Grey tastes just as good as the regular kind.
I eat breakfast, consume a salad a day, possibly some soup if I'm up for it, and make sure I have dinner and (often healthy!) snacks in between. Now that's good eatin'! And despite still coughing like a maniac sometimes, I think my undisclosed respiratory virus is finally on its way out. I mean, it only took a month.
I hate when people say "I know, right?"
Oh, and Juno was only good at the end. Most of it was blatantly try-hard, in my opinion.

Super Dave Osborne
Someone peed in the cinema before we got there. Currently, there is a lingering urine scent stuck deep in my nostrils. This is unjust. I did not let my friend pay for me to see a movie so that I might end up having a bad, bad wee-wee funk in my nose for the next two weeks. Please send help. I need a rescue. This is hell.
On the other hand, the movie was tremendous!
