Turning a blind eye to science. (See what I did there?)
Amazing though, isn't it? [Article here]

You know maps are antiquated when...
I had a pretty good day.
It started off with missing class and ended off with a silly prank and a skinny Avondale kid awkwardly reading off a map and making the lot of us laugh at his nerdiness.
[Ah, so much you would've enjoyed. Why does everything strike me that way now?]
The test went great. At least I plan to think so until I get the results back. And I got 100% on an assignment from last week. And I think I'm going to teach the class how to play with flashlights and long shutters for my training exercise. Yep, that's some useful training right there.
And I'm full of ands. I'm just so glad to be here. Or something.

There's no day like a snow day
Due to "treacherous" driving conditions today, I decided to stay home. One of two of my classes was cancelled because the prof didn't want us to die on our way in, so I figured that was enough. I mean, added to the fact that I didn't really feel like going in the first place. Ah, sweet apathy.
The day off was even more a blessing because it means 1) my first day of school isn't until the Thursday of the first week back, and 2) I got to hammer out a cover letter and resume that I was too lazy to do last night and send it off by the deadline.
Safe.
And then I napped for a bunch of hours. It's really been a great day in the life of me, now that I think of it. A waste of finishing powder, as Ellie declared us both earlier today, but a great day none the less.

Panic
Whenever people meet me, and subsequently meet my blog, they try blogging. It's this thing they do. And no one ever has the staying power.
And lately, I, too, am losing my lustre. When life gets happy, the stories, they get boring. But worry not, kids. I'll be back in school in just two short months, and as such, I'll be as miserable and tormented as ever before!
There are people who blog about 80x a week, out there. Why do people want to read about them? What makes them interesting? Is it because a musician they liked, who blogs, linked to them once? If someone can tell me how to make a reasonable living being a blogging celebrity without lifting my shirt or dropping my pants, I swear I'll do it.
I was listening to music from my mp3 player today (as opposed to from the radio, which has become my norm) and I must recommend a few songs. If you have not heard them, well then, you really should, especially *.
Do we all talk to ourselves in our cars, in our rooms, in our kitchens when we think everyone's asleep and then your cousin walks up behind you and whispers, "BOO!" and scares the shit out of you because you live in an apartment with non-squeaking floors and plenty of carpet? Because, as it happens, I sure do! Today I got out of my car saying, "God. My music fuckin' rules!" One day someone's going to hear me.

MIRACLES!
Okay, my room is fucking haunted. While moving some things on my bed (I had been unpacking) just now, I found the missing arm piece of the sunglasses; the very piece which I lost on the bus the other day.
Why this doesn't make sense in terms of reality:
- When the sunglasses originally fell off, I grabbed them from behind the seat they fell, without looking at them, and got off the bus
- As soon as the exit door closed, I looked in my hand to realize the arm piece was gone
- When I got into my apartment, I checked my purse (which was open at the time) to see if the arm had by any chance fallen in; no dice! Checked the plastic bags I had been carrying too. Nothing!
- I have slept in this bed twice since it happened! Twice!
- There was nothing on my bed while I was cleaning up today that would've been with me when I originally lost the arm
- I want to believe there is a ghost in my room. Nothing exciting ever happens anymore. Let me have this one!!
PS: I already bought a new pair to replace them. Damn.
PPS: I don't like this awful rash that's forming on the tops of my hands. Dust allergy?? Monkey pox? I'm hoping for the more hilarious of the two. As long as it's not fatal.

The Past, Never Was
It will be so nice.
In fact, it is so nice. I have a smart boyfriend, a couple of really good friends (another of whom is moving away), a barrage of people to socialize with and never really commit to, coffee can be mixed with hot chocolate and milk, and money isn't so tight. All I need's a new job and to pretend the negative aspects of school (i.e., one bothersome girl) never happened. Then read a Discover magazine and possibly some fiction; maybe take some pictures. I do wish the new place was west-facing. But it's not the end of the world.

Enamoured.
Streaming Matthew Good's Hospital Music from his site, and I'm less disappointed than I thought I'd be. I might actually enjoy this.
