I am covered in bites and one sting. I am slower than a zombie today. Withdrawals from both Vitamin D and homemade coffee are the culprit. Being on the island was fun fun fun!, then we remembered we live and work in Welland. C'est la shitty vie, that's what Quebec taught me. I still like little old Welland, but it's nothing compared to a place where both my jobs are 550km away.

My two-and-a-half year old niece may or may not have seen ghosts this past weekend. I think that is pretty cool.

It's so different out here

mysteries

So we're back from up north. What a great place, where the only thing you're blowing a tonne of money on is gasoline. It's nice not to be surrounded by products and crazy people, but rather by trees and crazy people you enjoy spending time with. Adding pictures to Flickr periodically for the next day or two.

There is nothing like a nice hike to simultaneously clear your mind and fill it with wonder. What a good trip. Back to grumbling when I wake up. It's laundry day.

Sans-Labour Day

i am the pollinator

We went to the Marshville Festival for our day off. It was fun. All the useless crap people sell there makes me want to open a booth at a trade show. A booth comprised of anything! One place made really good wood carvings, and wasn't even selling any of them. Amazing. Creating things simply for the enjoyment of it, not for business... who does that anymore?

Speaking of working for nothing, the frantic job search continues tomorrow. Going to change the name on my resume to Gary Busey and see if that gets me further...

It's friggin' late. I'll add some commentary later.

Snow, Rain, Wind, Cold

niagara parks

I'm gonna be living like an Un-Employed for the next four (4) days and it's going to be sweet. Relaxation, boredom, and depression abound! Should be a riot.

Andrew and I are going to see Brent Butt on January 30th at Massey Hall, because, why not? Corner Gas should be on as long as the Simpsons has been, if not two times as many seasons. Just another reason for having a distaste for life.

Christmas was wonderful, and I truly do mean that. Other than my sister's trip to the hospital which worried us some, and delayed dinner by three hours (which really, I didn't mind all that much... Mom's crescent rolls were great for tiding us over, and what am I going to do, complain about my sister seeking medical attention for a cut she didn't mean to get? Just a shame she had to wait so long... as I'm known for saying, there is a reason our health care is "free" in this country.) When all was said and done, Christmas was a complete success, with a nice healthy rendition of Catopoly to close it out. I did not win.

I'm starving, what are you making me?

Post 69.
You know what that means.
One more and I'll have made 70 posts!

the ol' swingset!

Family Day went off without a hitch. That is to say, as predicted, I did not see my family at all, although I did call them to make sure my sister was still alive after a scary trip to the hospital last night. [She's ok. Viral flu.] I managed to clean the entire house and avoid studying until this evening.

Tomorrow I set out to appreciate potential employers at an event of tradition at my school, and write the last midterm before Reading Week.

And I plan to actually read something enjoyable next week, by the way. Apparently Tom Robbins' Jitterbug Perfume is on the agenda, at my English professor's advisory. We'll see how that goes.

Edit: I wear a lot of stripes lately. I'm probably gay.

If you look up when they flip the switches, you can see the smoke from all of my burning bridges

Something my friends and I often say in our disdain is "F my life."
Here, Rico Cat captures that sentiment, and to make it all the more realistic, he is surrounded by the very notes and day-planner that cause this such stress.

Two midterms tomorrow, work tomorrow night, two midterms Friday, a prospectus due next week, and a midterm next Tuesday, as well as coordinating the Employer Appreciation Event that night.

Thank those crazy Liberals for Family Day. I'll actually get to study.

All tuckered out.

  • Went fishin'. (Foto time!) Tonnes of fun. Great way to spend a holiday morning. (Soundtrack? This was in my head all morning.)
  • Made short work of a Sudoku.
  • Solved the Jumble.
  • Inhaled copious amounts of fresh air.
  • Wore lots of sunblock, and, as such, got only a tiny bit of a sunburn.
  • Spent 4-ish (5?) days with the boy I love. We attempted the ol' horse races, but it was apparently the one night ever that they haven't had them at the track when we went Friday.
  • Renewed my disdain for CSI. "If you're gonna roll, you pay the toll." Ho-ho. Fabulous acting, 17-year-old nowhere-goer. Then again, who am I to speak? Despise CSI, regardless.
  • Finally received my birthday card from my sister and brother. So strange. Haha. Love them.
  • Watched the brother dive over the back fence for no particular reason. It's possible it was the funniest fall I've seen anyone take with or without cause.
  • Probably going to add myspace and last.fm info in the next few days. We'll see.
