Sloan and Apples in Stereo for free was a neat idea (which cost me $50 in gasoline and other related costs), but when it all came down to it, I would rather have paid for a show where Sloan played songs I liked instead of just a live rendition of Never Hear the End of It. Holly got it right. She had made plans with friends to meet up for dinner at 9:30, just before Sloan was scheduled to play. As such, at around 9:25, she walked boldly out of the ghetto church venue into Bumtown in the night and subsequently missed out on the most disappointing show in my memory. Heather, Andrew and I were left to experience a dismay unprecedented.

Not. One. Song. From any other album. Good one! That's what "free" gets you, I guess. Seeing one of your favourite bands at their most boring.

Heather, Andrew and I decided we did have fun. We just didn't have fun watching Sloan. Oh, and the sound person was terrible, as it was impossible to actually decipher any words that were sang.

It was nice to spend time with the kids in the Queen Street East ghetto and go to a rock show that fared sub-par at best and see people I hadn't seen in 1) two days, 2) two months, and 3) five years.

Today my nose is feeling broken again. It's been nearly 9 years. What do you know!

On the bright side, we saw this parked outside the church as we left:

It kind of made the night worthwhile.
